HEARN: The death of Alfred "Ivan" Hearn, resident of Rapid City occurred at the Minnedosa Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2016. Ivan was born in Hamiota on October 7, 1958. He grew up on a farm in Cardale, Manitoba and various other towns within the province. Ivan started work with his father Bert and the Keystone Center in Brandon. Not long after, he began his 36 year career at the Manitoba Highways, where he worked until retirement in 2012. In 1985 he married Sheilaugh Emerise Savoie and they lived together with their three kids until her passing in 1997. In 2001 Ivan, Jared (son) and Orianna (daughter) relocated to a small acreage in Rapid City, Manitoba. Ivan spent countless hours with his horses, whether it be providing community hay rides or breaking a new team. He was an active member of the Rapid City rodeo Association and the Rapid City Agricultural Society. Ivan was always a busy man even when there wasn't any pressing work to do, but during his free time he enjoyed camping with the kids, and volunteered his time as a cub leader while his son was in the program. He very rarely missed one of his daughter's slow pitch games, and spent countless hours entertaining his gradchildren. Ivan is survived by his mother May; his sister Barb (Don), his brothers Bob (Gwenda), Don, Ron, and Lionel (Robin). He is also survived by his daughters Orianna, Shena and son Jared, as well as grandchildren Jesse, Ashley, Kaleigh And Ryder. He is predeceased by his wife Sheilaugh and his father Bertram. Funeral service was held at the Memories Chapel on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Interment followed at Rapid City Cemetary. Active pall bearers were Bob Hearn, Don Hearn, Lionel Hearn, Jesse Hearn, Ken Bayes, and Jeff Alex. Arrangements were in care of Memories Chapel.
